Camels

You do regularly see wild Bactrian camels as you drive about Mongolia. This was the first time I'd seen them tethered to a cart (although I've seen them a few times since). The mother is pulling; her calf is tied loosely to her. It must just be getting used to being in town.

Your trip sounds a bit like something from the Snow Queen....like a fairy tale. The picture of the boy herding on his camel is beautiful - such a contrast to life back here. You're right - the people and the animals must be tough to thrive in the extreme cold. Really good to read all this.

Spring must be just round the corner...

Hi Lesley,

Trish has passed me your link and am really enjoying reading about your experiences in Mongolia.

Have already promised myself never to complain about being cold again - not even in Aberdeen in January!!

The days are getting lighter here now so spring is on its way. All the best. Anne
